An Emirati and Japanese cultural group known as Kharsha Experience hosted a Japanese language session in the UAE Feb. 15, gathering Japanese native speakers and other residents who want to practice the language together.

Based in Abu Dhabi, the Kharsha Experience is a group that aims to promote positive cultural exchange.

Manager of Kharsha Experience, Amna Aldarmaki, said: “We started the gatherings in order for those interested to exchange Japanese language speaking skills. The sessions aim for to give an opportunity for those who want to speak Japanese with native Japanese speakers who are based in UAE once every two weeks.”

“The idea of these gatherings is that most people who are studying Japanese language is through self-learning, institutes or online courses. They don’t know the right place or people to speak Japanese with which is why we made these gatherings for people to get motivated and speak Japanese.”

Omar Al-Romaithi, a new member of Kharsha Experience said: “It’s a wonderful group where we can learn and exchange Arabic and Japanese language skills and culture.”

“The meet up was enjoyable because of the exchange of culture which is very important to me. I have been learning Japanese for four years and I was having issues with speaking Japanese. This is a great opportunity for me to improve my Japanese,” he added.

Masaya Nakayasu who is a Japanese student and EF Japan Ambassador said: “ I get so much fun in these meet ups because I didn’t know that there was a big group of people in Abu Dhabi who want to learn Japanese. I’m looking forward to do more activities with them.”

“It’s good to share ideas and subjects to speak about in Japanese. It makes us understand each other & make us closer,” he said.
