DUBAI: One of Egypt’s most popular travelers at the moment has finally made it to Japan – all the way from Egypt – after 250 days of traveling, without once getting on an airplane.
Omar Nok officially started his journey in February and covered a distance of around 42,400 km getting from Egypt to Japan.
His journey started off from Cairo from which he took a cargo ferry across the Red Sea to get to Saudi Arabia.
He then moved to the UAE, Iran, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, South Korea and finally Fukuoka, Japan.
Omar documented much of his trip in short Instagram reels, showcasing his adventure in every country and taking his followers along with him through their telephone screens.
According to a post on the social media platform, he said he will be traveling across Japan for five weeks, ending his long journey in Tokyo, after which he will get on a plane to head back home.
He added that he will, however, make a few stops on his way back in Taiwan and Sri Lanka.
As the traveler’s journey comes to an end, Omar said: “I feel incredibly blessed for all the experiences I’ve had, the places I’ve seen, and the hospitable, friendly people who helped me along the way, showcasing the best of humanity. I believe the videos capture this better than I could express in words.”
“What started as a fun personal challenge quickly evolved into something much deeper. I’ve heard from moms who watch the videos with their kids to teach them about the world, people who say the videos helped them cheer up through tough times, and restoring the faith of many in humanity, etc. I’m extremely grateful for the impact this journey has had, far beyond what I ever imagined.”
Omar ended his post with an announcement that he plans a much bigger project for the coming year where he will be looking for travel mates to join him on his next adventure.
