DUBAI: The Cannes International Film Festival, one of the world’s most important film festivals, was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The event, which was scheduled to take place from May 12 to 23, will now be during end of June or the beginning of July, organizers said in a released statement.

“As soon as the development of the French and international health situation will allow us to assess the real possibility, we will make our decision known,” they added.

France has 9,134 confirmed cases of the virus, also known as COVID-19, and 264 people have died as a result.
