As the United Arab Emirates steps up its fight against the spread of Coronavirus by imposing a two-week lockdown, restrictions on the movement of people and vehicles around the clock have bene imposed.

The Dubai Opera was among a number of cultural institutions across the UAE that have closed and are under lockdown amid virus fears.

Despite the closure, Dubai Opera remains keen on delivering entertainment and through launching an online talent competition, allowing residents to showcase their talent from the safety of their homes. 

Dubai Opera launches an online talent competition amid the coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak, in search for the city’s superlative talents with the ‘From Home To Stage’ competition, offering participants the chance to appear in an opening act on stage at the Opera when normal programming resumes in the future.

The first prize winner will be selected as an opening act for one of Dubai Opera’s major performers in the upcoming season, while the second prize winner will be offered an hour of live performance at Dubai Opera Studio, free of charge.They will also be allowed to invite their friends and family, at a limited number of attendees which will be mutually agreed between the winner and Dubai Opera only.

The competition is open to residents of the United Arab Emirates (with valid residency visas) aged 12 years or over, and there is no entry fee or purchases necessary. To enter the competition, participants are required to record and post a video showcasing your talent on social media that is no longer than 90 seconds, tag Dubai Opera (@dubaiopera), and use the hashtag #FromHomeToStage.
