The UAE’s Jameel Arts Centre reopens amid lockdown restrictions

Dubai’s contemporary art institution Jameel Arts Centre, which closed on March 16 in support of the country’s efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19, will reopen its doors to visitors on June 3.

The Jameel Arts Centre still offers ticketless, free accesses, but follows new new guidelines. Visitors are asked to book a two-hour slot in advance of their visit to help monitor the capacity and abide to social distancing within the centre.

In accordance with UAE regulations, visitors and staff are required to wear a face mask, they will have their temperatures checked before entering the creative space and children under 12 years of age or over the age of 60 will not be permitted.

The space offers three floors of exhibitions and installations, Art Jameel Shop, the Artist’s Garden, seven desert gardens, and Jaddaf Waterfront Sculpture Park.

Current exhibitions include renowned Iraqi-American artist Michael Rakowitz’s first major solo exhibition in Asia and the Middle East, which is extended till November 22, 2020, the newest iterations of the Artist’s Rooms series, which is opening on June 10, 2020, Lubna Chowdharys major site-specific installation, and the Artist’s Garden by Asunción Molinos Gordo.
