A life-size statue of the Japanese Anime character ‘Evangelion’ from the Anime television series Neon Genesis Evangelion is set to be unveiled at the Toei Kyoto Studio Park in Kyoto, Japan, on October 3.

The statue entitled “EVA Unit-01” is expected to be 15 meters tall with the torso, upper body, and arm displayed as the most visible part of the character,

The other half of the character will be submerged in an ‘LCL’ pool, which is an oxygenated fluid from the franchise that links the pilot’s nervous system to the Eva Unit from its entry plug. The structure and complimentary surrounding of the statue mimic the Entry Plug of the Eva Unit in the show, where the cockpit is flooded with LCL.

Overall, the statue’s appearance portrays the EVA Unit-01 rising out of the blood-red LCL fluid with it’s right arm stretched to lead into an open palm that was specifically constructed to serve as a platform for people to stand on top of.

Serving as the theme park’s latest attraction, the statue is expected to offer visitors with numerous photo opportunities, while simultaneously allowing them to experience what it would be like to control the mecha through the provision of entry into the EVA Unit-01’s entry plug.

Inside the statue, a cylindrical cockpit with seats are exhibited, permitting visitors to position themselves as pilots and view their surrounding form Evangelion’s perspective.

Encompassing the statue are caution-marked metal railings bordered in a rectangular manner to replicate the exterior appearance of the Nerv Headquarters, Evangelions primary base of operations.

While the Evangelion section in Toei Kyoto Studio Park is set to officially open in October, earlier previews will begin taking place from August 1 to August 16.  Previews of the statue after August will only be permitted during weekends and holidays until September 27.
