Dubai: Nintendo recently confirmed it is working on an animated film adaptation of its popular game Super Mario Bros. and is set to release in 2022.
Illumination Entertainment, a subsidiary of Universal Studios, is already working on the film, with funding received from Nintendo and Universal Pictures.
Super Mario’s creator Shigery Miyamoto is confirmed to be working closely on the projector with the founder of Illumination Entertainment Chris Meledandri.
The animation of the movie will focus on Miyamoto’s original “creative voice.”
The movie is under wraps and not much is known about the project, but it will likely be released in theaters in a couple of years.
