Fresh stock of Sony’s latest console, the PlayStation 5, caused chaos in one Tokyo retailer overnight, as customers tried to get their hands on the very much sought-after gaming system.

Since its release in November, many people were finding it near impossible to get their hands on a PS5 all over the world, and Japan is no exception.

However, Yodobashi Camera electronics megastore in Akihabara managed to stock the console, causing the uproar shown in videos and photos on social media.

It is reported that police showed up at the scene and sales of the PS5 were halted. The store had given out numbered tickets on a first come, first served basis to potential purchasers, which may have contributed to the confused scenes.

In the past, it has offered raffles, giving those whose numbers were called an opportunity to buy the gaming console.
