TOKYO: Oriental Land Co. said Friday that it will raise its maximum daily limit for visitors to its Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea theme parks on Monday.

The daily limit for the number of people allowed to enter the parks in Urayasu, Chiba Prefecture, east of Tokyo, will be boosted to 10,000 per park from current 5,000.

The Japanese government is set to lift its state of emergency over the novel coronavirus for Tokyo and the three neighboring prefectures, including Chiba, on Sunday. The cap on event participants will be eased in stages.

Meanwhile, the opening hours for Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea will stay shortened, at 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., until March 31, as the government will continue to ask restaurants and bars to operate for shorter hours even after the state of emergency is lifted.
