The Japanese production company also revealed two main cast members for the upcoming Kamen Rider movie; Sousuke Ikematsu, who will play Takeshi Hongo/Kamen Rider and Minami Hamabe, who will play Ruriko Midorikawa.

The movie Shin Kamen Rider movie is part of Kamen Rider series 50th anniversary and a reboot of the original 1971 Kamen Rider series.

Anno is directing, scripting, and producing the movie. Shotaro Ishinomori is credited as the original creator.

The movie is being produced in order to create “an entertainment that even those who don’t know the original show can enjoy.”

Anno has previously said the project launched with the first planning notes six years ago. However, the production schedule was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, so the opening date has been pushed back about two years later than originally planned.
