DUBAI: The famous Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki has revealed he is coming out of retirement to direct one more Studio Ghibli movie.

In a rare interview with the New York Times, Miyazaki confirmed he will be returning to Studio Ghibli for the new film. When asked why he was planning to do so, the Japanese director said: “Because I wanted to.”

Miyazaki has previously announced his retirement on more than one occasion, the latest being in 2013, after he released a feature film called ‘The Wind Rises.’

According to the New York Times, he has been working on a new film over the past four years, but little details have been shared. However, all that was revealed was that it is based on a 1937 novel by Genzaburo Yoshino called ‘How Do You Live?’

The book is about a 15-year-old boy living in Tokyo, whose father had died. ‘How Do You Live?’ is reportedly the animator’s favorite “childhood book.”

Studio Ghibli co-founder and producer Toshio Suzuki described the new film as “fantasy on a grand scale.”

All Miyazaki had to say about the speculation surrounding the movie was: “I am making this movie because I do not have the answer.”
