ABU DHABI: The fifth edition of the region’s ultimate entertainment event, the Mother of the Nation (MOTN) Festival, was held in the UAE capital from Dec. 9 to 18 with a celebration of modern urban fun on the Abu Dhabi Corniche.

Organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the event pays tribute to family, community and the contributions of women to society as it once again honours the legacy of Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood.

The MOTN experience featured amazing attractions such as instagrammable signage, live art installations and musical performances, as well as activations, food options and rides suitable for visitors of all ages.

One of the highlights of the MOTN Festival 2021 was ANIMENIA, a space designed specifically for manga fanatics, cosplayers, and gamers, for an amazing experience of everything Otaku Pop Culture. It features a Manga Lounge, Arcade Games, Anime and Manga libraries, and a stage dedicated to all things Japanese as well for the first time in Abu Dhabi, the Glow Sushi Bar by Bompas & Parr in collaboration with Akiba Dori.

Exclusively to Arab News Japan, a representative of MOTN Festival 2021 shared the story of organizing Animenia at the festival: “Animenia and MOTN are two pop-up concepts based on a larger IP that is owned by Brag, something we hope to bring to the capital every year. The concept is inspired by arcade pinball machines along with never-seen-before F&B concepts such as the glow-in-the-dark Sushi, which is a first of its kind introduction in the market.”

About the challenges that they have faced regarding organizing Animenia at MOTN Festival 2021, she said: “Fortunately, it was smooth sailing, and no challenges were faced while organizing the Animenia pop-up. In fact, we were quite inspired by the excitement and willingness of our various local and international brands as well as F&B outlets to partner with us in this initiative.”

About the feedback of the visitors who visited Animenia at MOTN Festival 2021, she said: “The feedback has been super positive and the pop-up was welcomed by both kids & adults alike. The overall experience of Animenia was nostalgic for adults with some of them expressing the fact that it reminded them of their childhood.  The average visit to Animenia is approximately 45 to 60 minutes; which is great to soak it all in.”
