TOKYO: Japan’s Finance Minister KATAYAMA Satsuki Katayama met with Qatar’s Minister of Finance Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari in Washington and discussed strengthening cooperation in the economic and financial sectors.

Japan’s Foreign Ministry reported that the meeting took place in Washington, DC, on the sidelines of the G20 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Meeting.

During the meeting, a range of financial and economic issues was reviewed, in addition to discussing current regional and international developments and the associated challenges they present, particularly those related to matters of mutual interest between the two countries.

On the same day, Minister Katayama also met with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. They agreed to coordinate closely on foreign exchange markets and address the tense situation in the Middle East.
