The Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Japanese Patent Office on Wednesday.
The signing took place during a meeting of the fourth session of the Saudi-Japanese Vision 2030 Committee in Tokyo.
The memorandum aims to establish a framework for cooperation, enhance cooperation in respecting intellectual property, and train and develop human resources in the fields of patents, utility models, industrial designs and trademarks.
In implementing the memorandum, the IP Data Exchange Program and the Patent Prosecution Highway were signed during the meeting.
This strategic partnership aims to raise the standards of patent examination, accelerate the procedures of registering Saudi patents in Japan, and attract Japanese patent applications for registration in the Kingdom, which have increased since Saudi accession to the Patent Cooperation Treaty administered by the World Intellectual Property Organization.
