‘UNLEASH TOKYO’ campaign to teach business secrets to the Japanese capital

TOKYO: Tokyo Metropolitan Government has announced a promotion campaign – “UNLEASH TOKYO” – to enhance the Japanese capital’s international competitiveness and boost growth. It is also aimed at attracting foreign companies with advanced technologies related to the “fourth industrial revolution,” such as IoT, big data, and artificial intelligence, as well as companies in the financial sector.

The campaign includes plans to invite internationally active Japanese companies, international companies and influencers who are well-acquainted with Tokyo from both inside and outside of Japan. A a large-scale online event called “UNLEASH TOKYO” is in the plans to convey the allure of the capital of the world’s third biggest economy.

The event will be held March 9-11 and will see presentations and panel discussions by foreign companies that have succeeded in Tokyo, Japanese companies that actively collaborate with foreign companies, venture capital firms that invest in and support start-ups, and various guests who will discuss the allure of Tokyo. It will highlight Tokyo’s market size, as well as its business advantages, its creativity and diversity.

The Tokyo government said it welcomes “anyone interested” to participate in the three days of programs. Key speakers will talk about “secrets for foreign companies to grow their business in Tokyo and the future market environment.”

There will be dialogue on the appeal of the food culture of Tokyo, social issues and innovation trends, including businesses that are currently in demand in Tokyo. Roundtable discussions on overseas startups’ business development in Tokyo, and investment by major Japanese financial institutions, will be also held.

The discussion will help participants visualize concrete business development in Tokyo and learn about start-up investments made by major Japanese companies.
