Disney launches cloth face masks featuring iconic characters amid COVID-19

As coronavirus deaths in the United States, the country which now has the highest number of known cases in the world, continues to rise, the American multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate, Walt Disney Company, commonly known as Disney has unveiled a new line of masks featuring fan-favorite characters from Disney, Marvel, Pixar, and Star Wars.

Disney’s reusable cloth face masks follow the FDA and CDC’s recommendations on non-surgical, non-industrial grade face masks,  allowing people to wear cloth face coverings when out in public, while leaving the respirator and surgical masks for the health care professionals.

Offered in packs of four with sizes in small, medium and large, Disney’s cloth face masks feature a wide range of characters, including: Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, Anna and Elsa, Woody and Buzz Lightyear, The Avengers, andBaby Yoda, amongst others.

The different sizes pertain to the collection’s concept, which is centered on the provision of masks to people of all ages, thus allowing both, the children, as well as the ‘children at heart’ showcase their favorite characters through its depiction on the facemask.

“We realize this is a challenging time for families and wearing any type of mask can be daunting,” says Edward Park, senior vice president, Disney store and shopDisney.

“Our hope is that Disney’s cloth face masks featuring some of our most beloved characters will provide comfort to the families, fans and communities that are so important to us,” Park added.

To further help those in need, Disney said that it will donate up to $1 million of the profits made from the sale of masks to MedShare, a humanitarian aid organization that provides medical supplies and equipment to communities in need.

Additionally, Disney will donate one million masks to children and families living in underserved and vulnerable communities across the US.

The masks are currently available for  pre-order on Shop Disney the official Disney online store for  for $19.99(¥106.884) a pack.
