Japanese toymaker Takara Tomy invented a robot in the form of Pikachu Aruku de Chu, or Walking Pikachu.

The palm-sized charming ‘Pocket Monster’ responds to the sound of its owner’s voice and is aptly described by Tomy as a ‘Communication Toy.’

The moment its owner calls out to Pikachu, the character’s unmistakable energetic squeal will be heard as it responds, waves its arms, and walks in the owner’s direction.

Pikachu even has mood swings; if he is in a good mood, his cheeks will light up and if he’s feeling grouchy, he busts out his thunderbolt attack.

The Pokemon mascot toddles forward with short limbs and if called for with gusto, he will belt out the Pikachu song.

The Pikachu Aruku de Chu is priced at ¥3,500 yen (US$33) and goes on sale August 1.
