Shams Qamar, the Japanese man fond of the Arab culture and embraces it as his own, congratulated Arab News Japan on its one-year anniversary, naming it a “good resource” of Middle Eastern news for the Japanese community.

Qamar, who took a liking to dressing publicly as an Arab, explained that the Japanese community “appreciated the Arab News Japan because they now can read news about the Middle East in Japanese.”

He said that Japanese people were picking up articles about Middle Eastern current affairs and sharing them on social media.

The Japanese man said he was surprised that one year had already passed, stating that so much had happened, especially with the coronavirus pandemic.

“Sometimes Arab News is picking up topics about Japan and Arabs,” Qamar said. “It is helping cheer up our mental health and minds. We appreciate Arab News Japan.”

According to Qamar, he said he believes the Arab world could set the stage of “success in the legacy of the Japanese culture,” because the Arab society is “young and very active.”

He was surprised to also see that in Riyadh, many Saudi men and women were interested in making and eating sushi. Qamar said that in Tokyo, shawarma stands were also gaining popularity, which made him happy.

The Arabic-speaking Japanese man said he was looking forward to seeing the Arab and Japanese worlds merge together to create “something new,” especially when it comes to the anime world.

“Japan has the tools and technologies to make many anime series,” Qamar told Arab News Japan. He added that Saudi and other Arab countries were big collaborators, and he was excited to see emerging Arab artists take inspiration from Japanese anime.
