Train inspired by the successful ‘Demon Slayer’ film will run until Nov. 23

Japan has augmented to the animated film Demon Slayer: Mugen Train’s booming success, released on Oct 16. by launching an operational steam train inspired by the film that will run until Nov. 23.

Inspired by the film’s historical backdrop, the train will include elements from the Taisha Era (1912-1926) and staff aboard the SL Hitoyoshi will be dressed the part as well, enabling fans to immerse themselves into the world of the film. 

The train began operating on Sunday and is set to make trips from Kumamoto Station in Kumamoto Prefecture to JR Hakata Station in Fukuoka Prefecture, managed by Kyushu Railway Co.

The train is scheduled to run daily, but passengers will only be able to travel aboard it on specific days like Nov. 3, 15, 21 and 23. 

The train comes after the anime film, had about 10.7 billion yen in box-office revenue during the first 10 days of its release.

Demon Slayer: Mugen Train is based on character Tanjiro Kamado’s journey and heroic attempts to solve the mysterious disappearances of passengers on the “Mungen Train.”

This film attracted 3.42 million  Japanese viewers within the first few days of its release, and was shown in around 403 theaters.
