In honour of the postponed Tokyo Olympics, a Japanese store offers a dessert option that resembles the infamous Olympic Torch.

The dessert, named Glorias Torch, was created by Yatsudoki, a Tokyo-based store run by patisserie chain, Châteraisé.

The dessert is made primarily using strawberries organized in a way to give it a shape similar to the torch.

A tall glass is filled with strawberries, cream and jelly as well as Baumkuchen- a German cake that is also a preferred Japanese snack.

Yatsudoki’s Olympic inspired dessert option is priced at 1,650 yen (US$15.65), located in the store’s Jiyugaoka branch.

Yatsudoki’s parent,Châteraisé, is recognized as a major producer of sweets in Japan ranging from ice cream, to traditional delicacies.

“After 30 years of research, we have established a safe and secure confectionery production system,” Châteraisé’s website states.

Châteraisé was founded in 1954, and has made its mark since– renowned for using Hakushu mineral water from the Southern Alps in the making of the products.

They follow by assuring that the “wellbeing of our customers is our priority. That’s why we use more natural ingredients, avoid additives as best as we can, and offer our products at the most affordable prices. We want to be a confectionery loved by all customers – with this wish in mind, we at Châteraisé are producing our products,” the website states.

Yatsudoki, which refers to the time one dedicates to snacking, offers an array of options along with their Olympic inspired treat.

They offer butter-flavoured ice cream, French-style log cake, along with two other dessert-in-a-glass variations.

Aside from their sweets, the stores also offer a selection of juices, coffee, and tea.
