Uncle Tetsu is a Japanese Cheesecake brand that has made its mark worldwide, finally opening in the UAE in Dec. 2018.

The brand gains its reputation from fluffy cakes “made with premium quality cream cheese and butter which melt in your mouth,” says Operations Manager Muhamma Munir.

Uncle Tetsu was founded in Hakata, Japan in 1985 by Tetsushi Mizokami.

Online the store states that “the secret of deliciousness is special ingredients that contain a fully careful selection of cream cheese, butter, and eggs. Each cake is baked carefully taking you a step closer to Japan.”

Regionally, Uncle Tetsu keeps its menu short and sweet offering three different cheesecake options: Original Japanese Cheesecake, Chocolate Japanese Cheesecake, and Honey Japanese Cheesecake.

This differs from the more extensive menu offered in other branches worldwide, that includes options like Strawberry Cheesecake, Matcha Cheesecake and Oreo Cheesecake.

Uncle Tetsu has branches in 30 different countries, including five branches in Saudi Arabia and two in the UAE.

The softness of the cake is achieved from the ingredients which are mixed and then placed in a pan to be placed in the oven for 46 minutes.

The process does not stop there, after the cakes are baked, they are then stamped with the Uncle Tetsu logo using a branding machine—a practice implemented since 1990.

These authentic Japanese cheesecakes have quickly gained popularity in the UAE, as Manager Munir claims that approximately 70 percent of the customers that visit are of Arab nationality.

Uncle Tetsu acknowledges that “the Japanese Cheesecakes are admired for their lighter quality and balanced sweetness that provide the perfect taste and texture combination,” says their website.

Aside from the Original Cheesecake which is one of the store’s bestsellers, Uncle Tetsu also sells other sweet delicacies like their Cheese Tarts and Madeleines.

They also sell a selection of hot and cold beverages.
