Originating in Las Vegas, Qua Spa ventured to the UAE to open their first international branch, home to pristine spa treatments using specialized Japanese technologies and techniques that offer a soothing spa experience.

The spa is recognized for introducing the Iyashi Dome to the UAE—a machine that employs infrared rays to stimulate metabolism and is influenced by a historical Japanese practice called Suna Ryoho.

Suna Ryoho is a practice whereby people would immerse their bodies in sand near hot springs to remove toxins.

In a similar way, the Iyashi Dome emits vibrations of far-infrared rays inside the dome that covers everything but the head and aims to encourage deep sweating— approximately equating to 1200 ml of water and burning 600 calories.

Clients can expect to spend around 30-45 minutes inside the dome– a treatment that guarantees a plethora of scientifically proven benefits. Some these include detoxification, regeneration, slimming and cellulite reduction.

This is not the only Japanese treatment offered at Qua, Spa and Wellness Manager, Ayuko Suzuki, shed light on the various other treatments available, including their unique Shinrin Yoku wellness practice, otherwise known as ‘Forest Bathing,’

This practice “involves spending time in nature, amongst the trees – using all our senses to soak up the therapeutic atmosphere of the forest,” Suzuki told Arab News Japan.

She continued by reaffirming that “It is simply being in nature, connecting with it through our senses of sight, hearing, taste, smell and touch. Shinrin-yoku is like a bridge. By opening our senses, it bridges the gap between us and the natural world. But the good news is that even a small amount of time in nature can have an impact on our health. A two-hour forest bath will help you to unplug from technology and slow down. It will bring you into the present moment and de-stress and relax you. Numerous studies have shown that shinrin-yoku has real health benefits,” Suzuki shared.

The spa also offers a Japanese Shiatsu Fusion Massage, which involves pressing down on specific pressure-points to open blockages and achieve physical and spiritual relief.

Commenting on Japanese spa culture, Suzuki emphasized that “there are various spas available in Japan from international chains to local spas. There is always an interest to create signature treatments” and incorporate them with culture by using traditional Japanese products.

She added by pointing out how these days many spas “try to bring in the essence of hot springs to their spa” which is a fundamental part of Japanese culture.

Qua not only treats their customers at the spa, but they also aim to equip clients with the necessary products they need to take care of themselves at home, one of which includes Japanese brand Forlle’d.

Forlle’d creates products that utilize hyaluronic acid, ionized with minerals to aid with anti-ageing and skin restructuring.
