UAE’s Sushi Artisan focuses on bringing quality Japanese food to customers in Dubai, Al Ain and Abu Dhabi, adapting to the work-from-home culture that was brought about because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The restaurant came about in July 2021 as it became apparent that there was a lack of attention being paid to ensure an enjoyable delivery experience with regard to Japanese food, according to Sushi Artisan’s Head Chef Ronald John Aranzamendez.

“The process was like opening any other restaurant, but the advantage for us is that we did not have to worry about having a big restaurant to operate. All we needed was a fully-equipped kitchen, delivery partners and a dedicated team who were ready to give their all for the betterment of our concept,” he told Arab News Japan.

Sushi Artisan offers dishes made with original Asian ingredients, used to make traditional, homemade recipes including sushi.

“Since becoming available for delivery across Al Ain, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, we have expanded our menus in collaboration with our talented chefs, or Artisans as we like to call them. We offer delicious Gyoza options and udon in Dubai, we have seared nigiri dishes and ramen bowls in Abu Dhabi, and in Al Ain we have healthy poke bowls and sushi box dishes,” Aranzamendez told Arab News Japan.

The ingredients used are the key to offering fresh Japanese food as it would be experienced at a restaurant. The food is sourced from certified and accredited suppliers daily to preserve the food and its taste.

Interest in Japanese cuisine stems from an interest in its versatility and is what Aranzamendez describes as both “premium and comfort food.”

“With people preferring to stay indoors, we felt the need to cater to bringing a food experience that is mostly enjoyed while dining in a restaurant, to the comfort of each and everyone’s home without the quality being compromised. We achieve that daily by using only premium ingredients,” he continued.

Aranzamendez’s experience working as a chef for 10 years enabled him to construct menu options that attract customers, and what makes his work more challenging is how Sushi Artisan has different menu offerings for all three emirates.

Sushi Artisan has experienced growth over the last year, receiving 40-60 orders per day, and are opting to grow further in the future and possibly expand to more parts of the UAE and even across the GCC.
