TOKYO: Japan loves cats. From cat cafes to therapy cats, Japan now has music-themed cat videos.

The latest hit YouTube video features the “sand cat,” which is largely found in the Arabian Peninsula and North Africa. It is often referred to as the “angel of the desert.”

Nasu Animal Kingdom has decided to feature some of its animals on YouTube with their own theme songs. It had a big hit a year ago with a video featuring a snow cat that has been viewed by over 3 million people. By contrast, its camel video only drew around 3,000 viewers.

The new feature is a song and video for the Animal Kingdom’s very popular sand cat, one of the world’s smallest cats. In the two months since its release, it has been viewed more than a million times.

Nasu Animal Kingdom uses the videos and its YouTube channel to promote its attractions and animal conservation.

The sand cat video is said to contain “exotic images and music of the Middle East.”

Nasu Animal Kingdom succeeded in breeding sand cats for the first time in Japan in April 2020.

Kazuya Suzuki, the general manager of Nasu Animal Kingdom told Arab News Japan, “In Nasu Animal Kingdom, three kittens were born in February this year and we gave them Arabic names: Joja (Brave), Najum (Star) and Aldo (Earth).”

“Through the music video, I hope people can feel the power of the wild to survive in harsh desert environments.”
