Dubai: Spanish car racer Alex Palou ranked first in the 2022 NTT INDYCAR SERIES at Weather Tech Raceway Laguna Seca, the highest class of regional North American formula racing cars, in the United States on Sept. 23.

The race took an interesting turn after the Honda driver started at 11th place; he then made his way to first place holding that position for the second half of 95-lap contest finally finishing the race with an extraordinary 30 second victory margin.

He also made some comments after the race saying, “It was an amazing day. Conditions were extremely tough, we knew they would be going into it, but we felt really good in warm up and were looking forward to the race. Everything went super smooth during the race, pit stops, strategy, tire, engine. We got some really good fuel milage out of our Honda engine that allowed us to do the race in three stops. That made our day a bit easier. I can’t wait to get the off-season ended and start again and hopefully start it like we finished this year.”

Not only was Palou’s victory the only thing that was remarkable, but also 21 year old Christian’s Lundgaard’s fifth place ranking won him Rookie of the Year honors; a Danish motorsports racer with three European racing major titles.

Palou’s win marks the third consecutive INDYCAR SERIES victory for a Honda driver at Weather Tech Raceway Laguna Seca.
