LONDON: International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach on Tuesday stated again that the IOC aims to realize the Tokyo Olympics as scheduled despite the coronavirus pandemic, informed sources said.
The remark was made at an IOC conference call with international sports federations, according to the sources who attended the session.
Also on Tuesday, the IOC held a board meeting after a number of qualifiers for the 2020 Games were canceled or postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis. Some federations are asking the IOC to change the qualifying process.
The Tokyo Olympics are slated for July 24 to Aug. 9.
