NEW YORK: International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach has suggested that the IOC is considering various options for the Tokyo Olympics, The New York Times reported Thursday.

In an interview with the newspaper, Bach said that "cancelation is not on the agenda," adding, "Of course, we are considering different scenarios."

There is growing speculation that the Olympic Games may be postponed or even canceled in the wake of the worldwide outbreak of the new coronavirus.

But Bach said, "Nobody today can tell you what the developments are tomorrow, what they are in one month, not to mention in more than four months."

"Therefore, it would not be responsible in any way to set a date or take a decision right now," he added.

The Tokyo Olympics is currently scheduled to start on July 24.
