TOKYO: The Tokyo-based Chongryon Central Headquarters International Bureau has issued a report saying that if President Donald Trump wants to hold a US-North Korea summit, “He should take responsibility for pushing North Korea toward nuclear possession, accept the reality, and end the extremely provocative and dangerous US-ROK and US-Japan-ROK joint military exercises.”

In August, Trump said he hoped to improve his relationship with North Korea leader Kim Jong Un, looking at the possibility of holding a summit before the end of the year.

However, the report says, the military exercises “are designed to simulate a nuclear pre-emptive attack” and could lead to an unspecified “second mission of deterrence” if the exercises continue.

The report also celebrated the “victory of the War of Resistance against Japan and the Anti-Fascist War” and highlighted the celebrations held in Beijing, at which Kim was an honored guest.

Prior to the celebrations, the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit was held in Tianjin. This gave rise to the Global Governance Initiative (GGI), which, the report says, was a “groundbreaking event symbolizing the full-scale dawn of a new international order for the 21st century.”
