TOKYO: U.S. President Donald Trump met with Japanese Emperor Naruhito at the Imperial Palace in Tokyo on Monday evening and referred to the Emperor as “a great man” while speaking to the media. This was their second meeting since May 2019, and it lasted approximately half an hour, as reported by the Imperial Household Agency.
Trump and the Emperor expressed their desire to strengthen the friendly relations between Japan and the United States.
President Trump arrived in Tokyo on Monday. On Tuesday morning, he will hold a summit with Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae.
He is set to visit the Yokosuka military base, situated south of Tokyo, which serves as a vital hub for U.S. forces in the Pacific region. President Trump will conclude the trip by leaving Japan later that same day.
