TOKYO: A JNN TV Network opinion poll has revealed that the approval rating for the Prime Minister Takaichi Sanae Cabinet has soared to 82.0%, marking an increase of nearly 40 percentage points from the previous ISHIBA Shigeru Cabinet’s last days’ rating.  These numbers represent the second-highest approval rating for a government shortly after its inauguration since 2001, trailing only the KOIZUMI Junichiro Cabinet’s 88.0%.

In contrast, the percentage of respondents who opposed Takaichi Cabinet has dropped 38.7 points from last month, now standing at 14.3%.

Among supporters of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), 93% expressed their support for the Takaichi Cabinet, while only 6% indicated they do not support it.

When analyzed by gender, JNN found that men’s approval rating was 81%, while women’s was slightly higher at 83%.

Approval ratings varied by age group, with 88% of those aged 18 to 29 supporting the Cabinet, followed by 87% among those in their 30s, 86% among those in their 40s, 85% among those in their 50s, and 76% among those aged 60 and over.

Prime Minister Takaichi made a notable diplomatic debut following her election. She met with world leaders, including US President Ronald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and South Korean President Moon Jae-in, and participated in the recent ASEAN summit in Malaysia.

This diplomatic engagement led to a significant 83% of respondents approving of Takaichi’s efforts, while only 9% disapproved.

The survey was conducted over the weekend of November 1st and 2nd, involving 2,607 men and women aged 18 and older nationwide, JNN said. This included 875 responses from landlines and 1,732 from mobile phones, with a total of 1,013 valid responses received, representing a response rate of 38.9%.
