TOKYO: Japan has reacted positively to US President Donald Trump’s proposed Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, which was adopted as United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803 on Monday.
Foreign Minister MOTEGI Toshimitsu said Japan commends the diplomatic efforts of the concerned countries, including the United States, which led the drafting of the resolution, to maintain the ceasefire, stabilize security and rebuild Gaza. Japan hopes that security and stability in Gaza will be restored as soon as possible.
Motegi said is a statement that priority should be given to the maintenance of the ceasefire to bring about long-term peace and stability in the region and to facilitate a smooth transition to the next phase.
Motegi pledged Japan will fulfill the role it should and can play through helping with humanitarian assistance, recovery and reconstruction, and dispatching personnel to support the provisional governance mechanism with the goal of realizing the two-state solution.
