TOKYO: Hokkaido Governor Naomichi Suzuki said on Friday that the utilisation of Hokkaido Electric Power Co’s Tomari nuclear power plant in northern Japan is being considered as a realistic option for now, according to a live broadcast of the regional assembly.
Suzuki said he would make a comprehensive decision on the plant’s restart after conducting on-site inspections and gathering feedback from surrounding communities.
In July, Japan’s Nuclear Regulation Authority approved the safety review of the No. 3 reactor of Tomari station following more than 12 years of review, a prerequisite for restarting operations.
