TOKYO: OKUBO Takeshi, the Special Assistant to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Ambassador in charge of Gaza Rebuilding Assistance, paid a courtesy call on Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Al Safadi on Sunday and explained how Japan aims to help improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza, bring about early recovery and reconstruction and realize a two-state solution for Palestine.
Okubo, who was on a visit to the Jordanian capital Amman, explained Japan’s position on Gaza and followed up the discussions that took place at the recent Japan-Jordan summit during King Abdullah II’s visit to Japan, according to Japan’s Foreign Ministry. He also expressed Japan’s willingness to engage in information-sharing and exchange of views with regional countries, including Jordan.
Safadi, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, explained Jordan’s efforts to help Palestine and expressed appreciation for Japan’s support for Palestine, including its response to the situation in Gaza.
Ambassador Okubo also exchanged views with other officials from Jordan and international organizations and confirmed that they will work together towards the reconstruction of Gaza.
