TOKYO: Japan’s Foreign Minister, Motegi Toshimitsu, stressed during a 30-minute phone call with his Iranian counterpart, Dr. Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, on December 1st, on the importance of resuming discussions between with United States to address the nuclear issue through dialogue. 

The ministers agreed to maintain close communication at multiple bilateral levels, reflecting a positive and collaborative approach to regional peace and stability, as stated by the Foreign Ministry in Tokyo.

Minister Motegi urged Iran to promptly restore its full cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). In response, Minister Araghchi expressed Iran’s position, though the Ministry’s statement did not provide further details.

Minister Araghchi congratulated Minister Motegi on his new appointment as Foreign Minister, and Minister Motegi expressed his gratitude, according to the statement.
