TOKYO: The fifth round of negotiations for the Japan-United Arab Emirates Economic Partnership Agreement concluded at the end of November, covering topics that included intellectual property and competition policy.
The fifth round was held online and attended by Japan’s Chief Negotiator and Ambassador for International Economic Affairs TAKAHASHI Katsuhiko, along with representatives from relevant ministries.
The UAE side was led by Juma Al Kait, Assistant Undersecretary for International Trade Affairs and Chief Negotiator, as well as representatives from various ministries.
The two sides discussed the modality of negotiations and covered areas such as trade in goods, rules of origin, trade in services and government procurement.
