TOKYO: On a visit to Israel, OKUBO Takeshi, the Special Assistant to the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Ambassador in charge of Gaza Rebuilding Assistance, emphasized on Friday that Japan wants to help Gaza recover and realize a two-state solution for Palestine

Okubo was visiting the so-called Israel’s Civil-Military Coordination Center (CMCC) and said Japan would contribute to international efforts for humanitarian assistance, the early recovery and reconstruction of Gaza, and help with interim governance in coordination with relevant countries and organizations.

Japan’s Foreign Ministry reported that on his visit to the center in Israel he said Japan is aiming to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza and bring about early recovery and reconstruction, with the eventual goal of realizing a two-state solution for Palestine.

The CMCC is a coordination center in central Israel that was established following the Gaza ceasefire agreement in October. Military and civilian personnel from various countries, including the United States, are active in the center, which is responsible for coordinating international measures such as monitoring the progress of the ceasefire and implementing humanitarian and reconstruction assistance.
