TOKYO: Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs ONISHI Yohei told Yemen Ambassador Adel Ali Ahmed Alsunaini on Tuesday that Japan will continue to support dialogue among Yemenis and efforts to build a new nation, in coordination with the United Nations and relevant countries.
Japan’s Foreign Ministry reported that Onishi also stressed the importance of ensuring freedom of navigation and the safety of maritime traffic in the Red Sea and expressed Japan’s intention to take the necessary measures to ensure this.
Ambassador Alsunaini offered his congratulations on Onishi’s appointment as Parliamentary Vice-Minister and expressed his appreciation for Japan’s assistance to Yemen. He added that he wishes to further strengthen the cooperative relationship between Japan and Yemen, with a view to advancing bilateral relations.
The two sides exchanged views on the situation in Yemen, as well as developments surrounding the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
They said they will continue to develop friendly relations between the two countries.
