Arab News

  • Around 120 Japanese return to Japan in a special flight today
  • Same flight will return Saudi Nationals to Riyadh from Tokyo

As part of the measures taken by the Japanese government to evacuate its citizens from around the world following the COVID19 pandemic, the Embassy of Japan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia announced the evacuation of around 120 Japanese residents back to Japan on a special Saudia Airlines flight SV3555, that departed earlier today at 15:50 from King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh on its way to Tokyo Narita airport.

Toshimitsu Motegi, Japan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs at a press conference on Tuesday confirmed the news to Japanese media, saying “about 120 Japanese departed from Saudi Arabia by a special aircraft of the Saudia Saudi Arabian Airlines.”

Arab News has learned that this same Saudia plane will be returning tomorrow as flight SV3556 repatriating around 110 Saudi nationals from Narita airport to Riyadh.

The Embassy of Saudi Arabia in Tokyo has been following up with Saudi Nationals in ensuring that all of those who wish to return have all of the necessary information and are aware of the logistics.

Many Japanese people in Africa and Central and South America have been exploring ways to leave and return home. “We are going to make efforts to support the needs of those Japanese who are living in those areas,” Motegi concluded.
