TOKYO: Japan hopes that ​the latest round of attacks between the U.S. and Iran will ‌not ‌escalate ​further, a ‌government ⁠spokesperson ​said on ⁠Thursday.

“Ensuring free and safe navigation through the ⁠Strait of Hormuz is ‌an ‌urgent ​matter ‌for stable ‌energy supply … Japan will pursue all possible ‌diplomatic efforts toward an early agreement ⁠between ⁠the United States and Iran,” Chief Cabinet Secretary Minoru Kihara told a regular briefing.
