The number of COVID-19 cases confirmed through PCR tests in Japan is 18,254, with 971 deaths as of June 28, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare reported.

Data showed that among the returnees, there were 15 positive cases which have all recovered by now.
Among all those who tested positive in PCR tests, 16,392 "have recovered" or "at the end of their medical treatment in various hospitals in the country," the ministry said.
On the other hand, 833 are "still gaining inpatient treatment" and 6 percent of them, or 51 patients, are in "critical condition."
