MOSCOW: Japan scrambled fighter jets to intercept two Russian nuclear-capable bombers flying over the Sea of Japan and the Pacific, the Interfax news agency cited Russia’s defence ministry as saying on Wednesday.

The ministry described the event as a planned military exercise.
