Message of sympathy from FM Motegi after attacks in Nice

TOKYO: Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi sent the following message to his French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian, the minister for Europe and foreign affairs of the French Republic, following the attacks in Nice, France, on October 29 and November 2.

Dear Jean-Yves,

This time, a cruel assault occurred in Nice, and I am angry that multiple victims have been killed, and I firmly condemn this brutal terrorism. We would like to express our deepest condolences to all the victims and their families and extend our deepest sympathies to the injured. On behalf of the Government of Japan and the people of Japan, I would like to express my solidarity to the Government of France and the people of France.

The international community must unite and confront such acts. Japan will continue to work hand-in-hand with the international community to unite and confront the heinous terrorism.
