TOKYO: International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach will visit Japan next week, Yoshiro Mori, president of the organizing committee of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics, said Sunday.

Bach is expected to attend a preparatory meeting for the Tokyo Games that will be held in Japan jointly by the IOC and the organizing committee for three days from Nov. 16.

During his stay in Japan, the IOC chief is also likely to meet with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, who took office in September.

The Tokyo Summer Olympics and Paralympics have been postponed by one year to 2021 due to the new coronavirus pandemic.
