Governor Yuriko Koike, a frequent Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Japan speaker, is expected to hold a press conference on Nov 24 regarding the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.

The press conference, “Tokyo2020 and beyond: Initiatives for a Safe and Secure Tokyo,” will cover the latest updates regarding the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.

The speech, offered in English, will offer insight on the Tokyo government’s progress with the Olympics amidst the pandemic that has resulted in the event’s postponement.

The FCCJ conference will also give an overview of the results of the meeting with International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach who is scheduled to visit Tokyo in mid-Nov to meet with Koike and Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga.

Last month, Governor Koike shared with the media: “As we are making efforts to overcome the coronavirus pandemic, it will be necessary to present a new model for the Olympics and Paralympics,” generating interest and speculation regarding the model.

Koike’s speech will also delve into an initiative that is centered on fortifying Japan’s asset management and fintech, called “Global Financial City.”

The press conference will be livestreamed, and uploaded to the FCCJ YouTube channel.
