TOKYO: The Japanese government said on Dec.17 it expects the relations between Sudan and the international community to improve as a result of removing the country from the list of so-called State Sponsors of Terrorism by the US government.

“Removing Sudan from that list will become an opportunity to strengthen the reform and democratization with which the Transitional Government of Sudan has pushed forward,” the foreign ministry in Tokyo said.

Japan, as a member of the Friends of Sudan meeting, has proactively engaged itself in the international discussion toward the peaceful transition to civilian rule in Sudan.
