LONDON: International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach reiterated his intention Thursday to hold the Tokyo Games this summer as planned, informed sources said.
Bach was speaking at an unofficial teleconference with IOC members, the sources said.
The coronavirus pandemic has made it uncertain whether the Tokyo Games will take place this summer. IOC member Dick Pound recently expressed doubt about the games.
The opening ceremony for the Tokyo Games, which has been postponed by one year due to the pandemic, is scheduled to take place on July 23.
