TOKYO: Yoshiro Mori, president of the Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games organizing committee, is arranging to resign to take responsibility for derogatory remarks about women, Jiji Press learned Thursday.

Mori has informed people concerned of his wish to step down, people familiar with the situation said.

He plans to make a final decision after holding talks with senior officials of the Tokyo Games organizing committee, including Secretary-General Toshihiro Muto, according to the people.

Mori, a former Japanese prime minister, came under a barrage of criticism for suggesting last week that women talk too much in meetings.
