Former Nissan Motor Co. Chairman Carlos Ghosn, in an interview with CNN Brazil, aired Sunday, expressed his hope of being removed from Interpol’s international wanted list someday.

Ghosn, 67, who fled to Lebanon in late 2019 while on bail awaiting trial in Japan over his alleged financial misconduct, criticized Japan’s judicial system for what he claims is the lack of give and take.

He was born in Brazil and holds Brazilian nationality.

The former boss of the major Japanese automaker indicated that his escape from Japan was relatively easy, noting that Japanese authorities’ moves are predictable as their working methods are very well organized. He said he was able to leave the country swiftly and in a simple way.

Meanwhile, Ghosn held back from revealing details of the drama, so as not to put people who helped him in the plot in danger.

Earlier this month, the special squad of the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office indicted Michael Taylor, a former U.S. Green Beret, and his son, Peter, for allegedly helping Ghosn’s escape from Japan.

Ghosn said that anyone arrested in Japan should be worried as there is no way to get through the country’s judicial system unharmed.

Ghosn has been spending most of his time at universities in Lebanon, he said. He has been engaged in many projects to support universities in the Middle Eastern country, as well as in investment activities.

He denied rumors he intends to enter the political world in the country, saying that he has no plans to become a politician in Lebanon.
