TOKYO: Japan condemned the ‘atrocious terrorist attacks’ near Kabul International Airport in Afghanistan that killed and injured many, including the US military personnel.

“We pray for the souls of the victims and express our heartfelt condolences to their bereaved families. We also pray for the swift recovery of those injured,” the foreign ministry in Tokyo said.

The ministry said Japan can’t justify acts of terrorism and condemns these terrorist attacks in the strongest possible terms.

Japan said will work closely with the international community and work harder to strengthen counter-terrorism efforts and to prevent such acts of terrorism from being repeated.

“The situation in Afghanistan is unsettled. We will continue to do our utmost to ensure the safety and support evacuation of remaining Japanese nationals and local staff. At the same time, Japan will continue its efforts for peace and stability in Afghanistan in coordination with the concerned countries,” the ministry said.
