Power outage brings roller coaster at Universal Studios Japan to a halt

A power outage at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka caused a roller coaster, carrying 35 people, to come to an abrupt halt on Oct. 22.

No injuries were reported, and those stranded on the ride were guided safely to the ground while also wearing safety helmets.

The power outage impacted various other rides at Universal Studios as well as around 3,200 households at 12:45 PM, with no direct cause yet identified, the Japan Times stated.

The Hollywood Dream: The Ride, Backdrop is well known for its thrilling 43 meter drop and many passengers were left stagnant at the top. The power came back on at 1:06 PM but the evacuation of the passengers concluded at 3 PM, according to the Asahi Shimbun.
